http://www.k12.wa.us/ -- Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, home-based education rules and policies are listed here including the informational "pink book" as a pdf file for download.

Homeschooling Philosophy

http://www.holtgws.com/index.html -- John Holt and Growing Without Schooling site. Many resources for unschooling families or those who love them.

http://www.welltrainedmind.com/index.php -- Classical Education for homeschoolers. The study of history is the core of a classical education.

Resources for homeschoolers

http://www.kcls.org/ -- The King County Library System, the online databases are fantastic. Rosetta Stone programs in 28 languages!

http://www.spl.org/ -- Seattle Public Library, libraries for all, indeed.

http://www.cityofseattle.net/parks/ -- Seattle Parks and Recreation, very useful for finding lovely picnic sites, swimming pools, even homeschool enrichment classes (at Magnusen Community Center).

http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/ -- "A to Z Home's Cool", a venerable, incredibly comprehensive site on homeschooling.

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/8259/index.html -- Finding Homeschool Support on the Internet, lots of HS philosophy links. An older site, but with many good links.

http://donnayoung.org/ -- This site has myriads of free worksheets, organizing tools, etc. A Christian site, many of the forms are neutral.

Interesting, strange, lovely or wild

http://www.gutenberg.org -- Free eBooks available as downloads. A wonderful list of classics and works whose copyrights have expired.

http://earth.google.com/ -- A "gee whiz" geography extravaganza. Zoom in to any place on Earth from space.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page -- A great example of community-based knowledge sharing.
